The original Allerton Glass company opened its doors in 1940, long before the current owners Duane Spearman Sr. and Joseph Pagano were born.
Duane and Joe have been friends since they have teenagers. Both of them started working in glass shops as after school jobs. Duane was working at Allerton Glass and Joe at another store. In July of 1979, Duane took the opportunity to purchase Allerton Glass. Joe was the first person he thought of as a partner.
Their business grew and they started to carry more products. In 2006, they relocated their store to 2514 White Plains Road that enabled them to have a showroom, where customers could come in and browse through the samples of vertical blinds, shades, mini blinds and mirrors. They also offer emergency boarding service, storefronts and glass tops.
In the age of the "superstore", it is nice to know that there are still neighborhood businesses like Allerton Glass that can give you personal attention. It is also nice to know that two neighborhood kids grew up to be two neighborhood businessmen helping to keep the local business community strong.
